Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of public accounting tax experience with increasing complexity of returns.
  • Strong knowledge of individual and entity taxation.
  • Proficiency with tax preparation software, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Ability to manage multiple engagements in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Ability to work extended hours during peak seasons.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • CPA license or CPA exam eligible.
  • Master’s degree in accounting or taxation.
  • Experience with entity-level tax planning and advisory conversations.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review federal and state income tax returns for individuals, partnerships, S-corporations, C-corporations, and trusts.
  • Manage assigned engagements from receipt of information through completion and delivery readiness.
  • Ensure workpapers are organized, complete, and compliant with firm standards.
  • Identify tax planning opportunities and communicate findings to Supervisors.
  • Conduct tax research and apply findings accurately to client situations.
  • Develop increasing proficiency in entity-level taxation and multi-entity structures.
  • Monitor budgets, realization, and due dates for assigned engagements.
  • Coordinate closely with the TSA team to ensure proper document flow, engagement letters, and status tracking.
  • Collaborate with the CAS team to understand bookkeeping context and resolve discrepancies affecting tax returns.
  • Monitor assigned deadlines and proactively communicate delays or issues.
  • Utilize firm workflow tools and tax software effectively and consistently.
  • Support Tax Associates by answering questions, providing constructive feedback, and modeling best practices.
  • Assist in training new hires and interns.
  • Begin learning to review tax returns prepared by tax associates.
  • Demonstrate readiness for increasing supervisory responsibilities.
