About The Position

As a Senior Tax Associate at Blackman & Sloop, you will work on a variety of tax engagements, with a focus on business and individual returns. You will manage clients independently and use project management, analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills to deliver quality work and excellent customer relations in a friendly, team-oriented work environment. Blackman & Sloop is a local, single-office accounting firm with approximately 45 full-time staff. Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
At least 3 years of tax preparation and/or review experience.
Excellent project management, analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills.
Ability to self-motivate, multitask, and complete assignments within time constraints and deadlines.
Strong desire for career advancement and the goal of future firm ownership.
Excellent work ethic and a sense of humor.

Nice To Haves

CPA or EA license, or candidacy for one.
Auto dealership industry experience.
Knowledge of CCH Axcess Tax, CCH Engagement, and QuickBooks.

Responsibilities

Prepare and/or review business and individual tax returns.
Gather data from clients and third-party sources and obtain outstanding items as necessary.
Conduct tax research focused on compliance and alternatives to address clients’ objectives.
Prepare and analyze income tax notices for federal and state jurisdictions.
Manage clients and participate in marketing and business development.
Participate in recruiting and supervise entry-level staff.
