Senior Tax Associate

Facet
$110,000 - $150,000Remote

About The Position

Facet is seeking an experienced Certified Public Accountant (CPA) to step into a high-touch, member-facing role as a Senior Tax Associate. This is an ideal next step for those who enjoy the strategic advisory side of public accounting or private wealth management but wish to avoid tax season, compliance filings, and timesheets. In this consultative position, you will lead weekly virtual tax strategy sessions directly with Facet members, translating complex tax laws into actionable strategies without preparing tax returns. You will partner with CFP® Lead Planners to apply Facet’s modern tax planning framework, empowering members to make confident, tax-optimized life decisions. Key highlights include a focus on forward-looking planning, a high-cadence consultation environment with 10-15 video strategy sessions per week, operating within a modern, tech-enabled RIA structure, and a balanced workload with no busy season.

Requirements

  • Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license required.
  • 5–7+ years of professional experience specializing in personal tax planning, private client tax advisory, high-net-worth tax consulting, or wealth management.
  • Demonstrated history of managing a regular client meeting cadence (e.g., 10–15 client consultations weekly) with exceptional empathy, active listening, and strong presentation skills over video.
  • Expert ability to analyze Form 1040s and supporting schedules rapidly to spot tax inefficiencies, missed opportunities, and exposure risks.
  • Strong expertise in individual federal and state tax codes, pass-through entities, retirement distribution strategies, and executive compensation planning.
  • Uncompromising integrity and a dedication to delivering objective, member-first advice.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) designation or active pursuit of the credential.
  • Prior experience delivering advisory services within a fee-only RIA, multi-family office, or wealth management firm alongside CFP® professionals.
  • High proficiency with modern tax modeling tools (Holistiplan, BNA, Corvee) and CRM/digital workflow tools.

Responsibilities

  • Lead 10–15 virtual strategy sessions per week, delivering tailored tax advice, answering complex real-time questions, and guiding members through high-stakes financial decisions.
  • Serve as the primary tax sounding board for members by delivering clear, plain-English answers to day-to-day inbound questions via our secure messaging platform (covering withholdings, life events, IRS notices, and tax projections).
  • Review member tax returns (Form 1040s and schedules) to diagnose multi-year optimization opportunities, including Roth conversions, equity vesting events, real estate transactions, and executive compensation.
  • Build, model, and present customized tax strategies using modern planning tools—focusing on bracket management, withholding adjustments, and estimated tax schedules.
  • Perform deep-dive research into complex federal and multi-state tax scenarios to architect compliant, creative strategies across diverse household profiles.
  • Work hand-in-hand with our Lead Planners and Director of Specialized Advice to integrate tax optimization seamlessly into overall holistic financial plans.
