About The Position

Thomas Howell Ferguson P.A. CPAs is seeking an experienced Senior Tax Accountant for their Lakeland office. This role involves delivering high-quality tax and accounting services to a diverse client base through tax compliance, planning, research, and financial statement preparation. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, highly organized, possess strong technical expertise, communication skills, and a commitment to exceptional client service. This is an in-person role.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting related with a minimum of five years of relevant experience in accounting, OR a Master’s degree in Accounting related with at least one year of relevant experience in accounting
  • Expertise in Taxation (Corporate, Partnership, Estates, Individual), Auditing, Advanced Financial & Managerial Accounting and Reporting
  • Ability to conduct accounting/tax research
  • Proficiency in using accounting software

Responsibilities

  • Review and prepare complex federal and state tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, and trusts, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable tax laws.
  • Support shareholders and managers in tax research, prepare responses to IRS and state notices, and managing client communications.
  • Conduct tax planning projects and year-end strategies to identify tax-saving opportunities, reduce risk, ensure multi-jurisdictional compliance, and project estimated tax liabilities for clients.
  • Train and mentor new staff; provided feedback, reviewed work, and served as a resource for technical and procedural questions.
  • Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principle.
