About The Position

Our client, a well-established public accounting and advisory firm serving West Michigan for more than 35 years, is seeking a Senior Tax Accountant to join its growing tax practice. This is an ideal role for a tax professional who wants more than simply preparing returns. You'll work directly with business owners, entrepreneurs, and families while developing your expertise in tax planning, business consulting, and client advisory services. Unlike larger firms, you'll have direct access to firm leadership and meaningful involvement in client relationships from day one. As a Senior Tax Accountant, you'll work closely with clients and leadership on tax compliance, tax planning, and advisory engagements while continuing to develop technical and leadership skills. You'll gain exposure to: Closely held businesses, Family-owned companies, Real estate investors, Manufacturing & distribution companies, Professional service firms, Trust and estate taxation, Business succession planning.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
2–5 years of public accounting experience
Experience preparing business and individual tax returns
Strong communication and organizational skills

Nice To Haves

CPA or CPA candidate preferred
Experience with closely held businesses
Trust and estate taxation exposure
QuickBooks experience
Prior client-facing experience

Responsibilities

Prepare and review individual, corporate, partnership, S-Corporation, and fiduciary returns
Identify proactive tax planning opportunities
Research tax issues and communicate solutions
Stay current with federal and state tax developments
Build relationships with business owners and decision-makers
Participate in planning meetings and client consultations
Deliver exceptional client service and responsiveness
Assist with training and mentoring junior staff
Review work and provide feedback
Continue building leadership capabilities
