About The Position

DZYNE is seeking a Senior Systems Safety Engineer to work with in our Expendables Division out of Irvine, CA. Requirements

  • 8+ years of relevant experience (Advanced degrees may substitute for years of relevant professional experience)
  • Demonstrated ability to apply system safety engineering principles in accordance with MIL-STD-882 and analyses such as preliminary hazard analyses, function/system/subsystem hazard analyses, fault tree analyses, software system safety analyses and safety assessment reports
  • Demonstrated ability to apply MIL-STD-810 and MIL-STD-2105
  • Ability to analyze, recommend, and drive safety into system design, equipment, and procedures to mitigate or eliminate hazards
  • Ability to develop, review, update and approve system safety artifacts and system safety requirements
  • Understanding of requirements development, system/software architecture, hardware/software design, software code implementation, test, verification, and validation
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of leadership and customers
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret security clearance, as required for the role.
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without the need for current or future employment visa sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated ability to apply system safety engineering specifically within US Navy applications and all associated deliverables and Safety Review Boards (e.g. FISTRP, WSESRB, HERO, Battery Safety Safety Review)

Responsibilities

  • Apply knowledge, methodologies, and principles of safety engineering as defined in MIL-STD-882 and software safety engineering as outlined in the Joint Software System Safety Engineering Handbook (JSSSEH).
  • Prepare System Safety Engineering analysis and Generate documents in accordance with MIL-STD-882E and MIL-STD-2105 including PHAs, FHAs, SHAs/SSHAs, Bent Pin Analyses, Fault Tree Analyses, non-nuclear Munitions and Software System Safety Analyses.
  • Identify system safety issues, propose solutions and ensure appropriate action is taken to mitigate safety issues
  • Develop, review, update and approve System Safety Artifacts and System Safety Requirements in coordination with Military Services’ system safety review boards
