About The Position

Davidson is seeking a Senior Systems Product Owner in Colorado Springs, Colorado. This position is an integral part of a fast-paced, mission-focused program supporting the Missile Defense System (MDS) and the development, integration, and sustainment of ground-based radar systems. The successful candidate will work cross-functionally with highly skilled Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, Radar Engineering, and Program Management teams to deliver capabilities that support complex defense and mission requirements.

Requirements

  • BS or MS in Engineering, Science, Math or related discipline
  • 10+ years' experience Agile Product Owner, Systems Engineer, Technical Product Owner, or similar role
  • Deep knowledge of job area/domain expertise (ie Radars/Sensors, Ship Systems, System Integration and Test)
  • Significant experience with system integration and test process, tools and techniques
  • Experience with Systems Engineering Product Development Cycle
  • Experience with MATLAB and DOORS
  • Demonstrated Successful Leadership as a Complex System Integration and/or Complex System Test Lead
  • Experience developing and presenting technical information/presentations to leaders or customers
  • Has expert specialty knowledge in Systems Engineering and Integration/Test of complex, large-scale systems; Provides leadership and guidance to teams
  • Currently hold active DoD Secret Clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting the Missile Defense System (MDS), Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD), or related defense programs
  • Experience with ground-based radar systems or radar-related mission capabilities
  • Knowledge of radar systems, sensor systems, command and control, tracking, discrimination, or battle management capabilities
  • Background in Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, or Software Development Management
  • Experience with system-of-systems engineering and complex technical architectures
  • Knowledge of requirements management, system integration, verification, and validation processes
  • Experience working with government customers and/or Department of Defense programs
  • Experience supporting Program Increment (PI) planning and execution within a SAFe environment
  • SAFe Product Owner/Product Manager (POPM) certification
  • PMI-ACP certification or Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO)
  • Experience with tools such as Jira, Confluence, DOORS, Cameo, or other requirements/modeling tools
  • Ability to interpret and communicate system architecture, interface, and operational concepts
  • Experience working in a multi-site engineering organization with geographically distributed teams

Responsibilities

  • Work with government, program, engineering, and mission stakeholders to understand operational needs and ensure those needs are reflected in the product backlog and development process
  • Develop, maintain, and communicate the product vision, roadmap, and priorities in alignment with program objectives
  • Work with Systems Engineering and technical teams to decompose system requirements into capabilities, features, user stories, and acceptance criteria
  • Prioritize the product backlog based on mission priorities, program objectives, technical dependencies, risk, and resource constraints
  • Facilitate Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, and PI planning activities
  • Collaborate with Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, Radar Engineering, Integration and Test, and other technical disciplines to ensure requirements are understood and executable
  • Coordinate with other Product Owners to manage cross-team dependencies and maintain alignment with the overall system and program vision
  • Support the development, integration, testing, and deployment of capabilities supporting ground-based radar systems
  • Analyze technical and operational issues and work with engineering teams to identify potential solutions and recommendations
  • Track and communicate product progress, risks, dependencies, and technical challenges to stakeholders and program leadership
  • Develop and present diagrams, workflows, capability views, and recommendations to technical and program audiences
  • Ensure product backlog items contain clear requirements, acceptance criteria, and measurable outcomes
  • Support verification and validation activities by ensuring delivered capabilities satisfy defined requirements and stakeholder expectations
  • Promote continuous improvement across the product development lifecycle and Agile team
