About The Position

The Air Combat Test & Training (ACTT) Engineering Department specializes in developing state-of-the-art products for cryptographic, datalink, networking, and command and control applications. They are focused on U.S. military communication systems, navigation systems, and networks, guiding products from concept phase through accreditation to factory production. This includes design, analysis, test, and certification, integrating them into the Live, Virtual, and Constructive (LVC) Training Environment. They are positioned in the Mission Systems business unit, their role involves addressing challenges such as developing next-generation secure aircraft instrumentation for the next generation, LVC for test and training, and crafting product roadmaps and architectures. The Cybersecurity and Training Missions Engineering Team within ACTT is looking for a Senior Systems Engineer to join their team as they provide technical excellence in a rapidly growing Air Combat Training market for system of systems requirements, design, verification, accreditation, and sustainment efforts. As a platform-level systems team, they have direct customer and end-user interaction and coordination across subsystem teams and stakeholders. Their team culture is highly collaborative and uses a tailored version of the Scaled Agile Framework to meet program goals.

Requirements

  • Experience with the systems development process, including requirements, design, integration, test, and documentation of systems, subsystems, or software
  • Experience making decisions that impact cost, schedule, and technical performance
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience
  • U.S. citizenship is required
  • Active and existing security clearance required after day 1

Responsibilities

  • Lead and perform requirements verification activities, ensuring system requirements are complete, accurate, and fully traceable across the lifecycle
  • Develop verification test procedures and independently execute them within a secure laboratory environment, ensuring technical rigor and compliance
  • Conduct peer reviews of test procedures and design documentation, providing technical guidance and elevating engineering quality across the team
  • Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams to align on program goals, resolve integration challenges, and support planning and execution activities
  • Communicate status, risks, and technical insights to stakeholders, influencing decisions that impact cost, schedule, and technical performance
  • Develop and own system design approaches, coordinating with subject matter experts while modeling system behaviors, interfaces, and architecture elements within an Model‑Based System Engineering (MBSE) environment
  • Apply MBSE methods and tools to ensure requirements, architecture, and verification activities remain consistent and digitally connected throughout the system lifecycle
  • Drive resolution of technical issues by applying structured problem‑solving, coordinating across affected teams, and ensuring timely closure
  • Provide limited mentoring to early‑career engineers, including guidance in the application of MBSE techniques and system modeling best practices
