Position Summary The Senior Systems Engineer is a hands-on technical expert responsible for the architecture, engineering, security, and optimization of enterprise IT systems across on-premises and cloud environments. This role focuses deeply on technical execution, implementing infrastructure solutions, managing identity and access, designing backup and disaster recovery processes, and configuring networking (including SD-WAN), VoIP systems, and endpoint management. As a senior individual contributor, this position leverages advanced technical skills to ensure scalable, secure, and highly available systems. The role heavily utilizes automation and RMM tools to drive operational efficiency and provides technical evaluation and oversight for vendor solutions and asset lifecycles.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of hands-on, progressive experience in IT infrastructure, systems engineering, and network administration.
  • Deep technical proficiency and hands-on operational experience with: Veeam Backup & Recovery
  • Okta (IAM / SSO / automated provisioning)
  • Microsoft 365, Azure, Entra ID architecture
  • AWS cloud services and management
  • SD-WAN and multi-site networking protocols
  • VoIP systems configuration and troubleshooting
  • SIEM and EDR platforms
  • RMM tools and IT automation/scripting (PowerShell, Python, etc.)
  • IT ticketing and service management workflows
  • Experience technically securing IoT devices and managing endpoint security.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and architectural design skills.
  • Excellent technical documentation and communication abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Architect, deploy, configure, and maintain enterprise systems including Windows Server, virtualization platforms, and business-critical applications.
  • Engineer and support Microsoft 365, Azure, and Entra ID environments, focusing on identity, access, and policy enforcement.
  • Provision, monitor, and optimize AWS infrastructure to ensure performance, security, and cost efficiency.
  • Engineer Okta solutions for SSO, MFA, and automated user provisioning/deprovisioning.
  • Implement identity governance and enforce least-privilege access across all platforms.
  • Deploy, configure, and monitor SIEM and EDR solutions for proactive threat detection and response.
  • Execute vulnerability assessments, analyze findings, and perform technical remediation.
  • Configure, deploy, and support network infrastructure across multiple sites, including SD-WAN architecture.
  • Implement and troubleshoot firewalls, switches, VPNs, and secure connectivity between on-prem and cloud environments.
  • Support enterprise VoIP platforms, ensuring uptime, call quality, and efficient technical provisioning.
  • Implement, maintain, and monitor Veeam Backup & Replication to ensure reliable data protection and backup integrity.
  • Technically execute and test disaster recovery and business continuity plans to meet RPO/RTO objectives.
  • Develop scripts and automation workflows (e.g., PowerShell, Python) for patching, provisioning, and alerting to improve operational efficiency and reduce manual workloads.
  • Configure and optimize Remote Monitoring and Management (RMM) tools for proactive system maintenance.
  • Secure and segment IoT devices and endpoints, ensuring proper technical lifecycle management and monitoring.
  • Serve as a top-tier technical escalation point within the service desk workflows for complex infrastructure issues.
  • Evaluate technical solutions and collaborate directly with vendors during troubleshooting, technical evaluations, or new implementations.
  • Assist in tracking IT assets, providing technical input for procurement, and analyzing hardware/software requirements.
  • Independently architect and execute small-to-medium technical projects to successful completion.
  • Provide senior-level technical engineering support to project managers on large-scale enterprise rollouts.
