Our Avionics Engineering group is excited to offer a Senior Systems Engineer role within our business and regional focused Aftermarket Systems team in Cedar Rapids, IA. As part of the Aftermarket Systems team, you’ll be instrumental in developing retrofit solutions for the large fleet of Collins equipped aircraft currently flying today as well as supporting our existing fielded solutions. Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and a minimum 3 years of experience

Nice To Haves

  • Prior systems experience with Collins Aerospace, preferably with commercial Avionics architectures.
  • Prior experience with code or script development.
  • Experience working in an integration lab, test facility, or in the field, supporting integration and/or verification activities.
  • Ability to manage tasks and meet cost, schedule, and performance objectives with minimal oversight.
  • Private Pilot License or general passion for aviation.

Responsibilities

  • System-level requirements development by analyzing customer specifications and/or market desires and translating them into clear hardware and software needs.
  • Design solutions that meet future airspace and mandate requirements.
  • Functional analyses, architectural exploration, and trade studies to evaluate design alternatives considering performance, cost, and risk.
  • System integration activities, including creating interface definitions and verifying system behavior against requirements.
  • Verification and validation planning and execution, including test procedure development and data analysis.
  • Identification of potential technical or schedule risks and work with other engineers to develop mitigation approaches.
  • Support the on-aircraft installation of avionics updates along with supporting ground and flight testing.
  • Maintain system configuration and documentation throughout the development lifecycle.
