General Dynamics Mission Systems is seeking an Advanced Systems Engineer 2 to support the D5LE2 program within the SWC Fire Control engineering organization. The successful candidate will apply systems engineering fundamentals across the full system life cycle, leveraging Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and digital engineering concepts to deliver mission-critical solutions in support of the U.S. Navy's strategic deterrent. This role requires strong critical thinking skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a complex, long-horizon program environment. D5LE2 is the next-generation life extension of the Trident II D5 strategic weapons system, supporting the U.S. Navy's sea-based nuclear deterrent through the 2080s. Key milestones include Preliminary Design Review (PDR) in 2028 and Critical Design Review (CDR) in 2032. The engineering team applies MBSE, digital engineering, and rigorous systems engineering processes in a safety-critical, CNWDI-controlled environment. This position is part of the SWC Fire Control engineering organization (DE256) at General Dynamics Mission Systems in Pittsfield, MA.
