About The Position

The Space & Airborne Center within Systems Integration & Test seeks talented Senior Systems Engineers. Our Space & Airborne team members located in El Segundo, CA integrate hardware and software, develop test plans and procedures, debug and evaluate system functions and interfaces, and verify system requirements in support of final sell-off to the customer. We put our systems together, exercise them in the lab or in the field, measure and analyze performance, and make sure our products work the first time and every time. Every day is a different set of challenges to overcome. You'll be expected to collaborate across disciplines and partner to implement solutions. In this role, you'll get to know a little bit about every aspect of the system and have a direct hand in making it all work together supporting teams of engineers engaged in integration and test efforts. Our center focuses on back end sustainment and repair design and sustainment development as well as transitioning systems through integration and test from production to warranty/sustainment. You will also perform functional / physical analysis, allocation, and trade studies. You will perform Radar Mode requirement verification, engineering testing, integration and flight-testing, production, system deployment, and post deployment support in a hands-on laboratory environment. Through Digital Transformation (DTx), you will perform these functions using a variety of methods and enabling technologies, which may include Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and Agile product development. You will develop/execute test procedures and identify/isolate anomalies to hardware, software, or system interfaces. You will have ownership of integration & test tasks and, with the team, will drive them to completion. This position is an onsite role in El Segundo, California.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline (preferably Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering or Physics) with a minimum of 5 years of related work experience troubleshooting technical issues with electronics, including the use of common commercial test equipment (oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, etc.)
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Responsibilities

  • Plan and Execute Integration, Verification, and Validation Test (IV&V) activities in our labs or, occasionally, in the field
  • Perform troubleshooting and failure data analyses, including root cause and corrective action processes and advanced use of lab or field test equipment
  • Handle system hardware modules or units, some with the use of support equipment
  • Complete detailed system or software test data records, including the use of analysis tools such as MATLAB
  • Prepare and present results in reports and briefings to internal or external stakeholders
  • Manage engineering support activities related to test and trouble-shoot of hardware
  • Interpret and maintain design specifications and drawings (Schematics & Assembly Drawings)
  • Maintain engineering databases
  • Develop system technical solutions with Engineering teams
  • Directly support Engineering Integrated Product Team Leads (IPTL) via periodic team meetings, working group meetings, and individual tasks
  • Lead small teams on individual IV&V tasks assigned by the Engineering IPTL
  • Coordinate across functions (operations, software, hardware) for the completion of complex program tasks as assigned by the Engineering IPTL
  • Test event support activity that may require travel; which is not expected to exceed 10%
