About The Position

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is an employee-owned federal government contractor supporting national priority programs in Information Technology, Engineering & Analysis, Test & Evaluation, and Training. The Senior Systems Engineer performs Independent Verification and Validation (IV&V) for U.S. Navy submarine systems. The work includes reviewing engineering and test materials, validating requirements, auditing software units, witnessing qualification and acceptance testing, and conducting technical reviews and software code inspections.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Engineering, Mathematics, Physical Sciences, or Computer Science.
• Active Secret security clearance or ability to obtain a Secret security clearance.
• U.S. citizenship, required to obtain or hold a U.S. security clearance.
• Proven experience in U.S. Navy submarine SCS.
• At least 5 years of experience in Fly-By-Wire (FBW) training and qualification, FBW-certified formal U.S. Navy witnessing of laboratory testing at developer facilities, and reviews of Program Trouble Reports (PTRs).
• Computer programming experience and the ability to understand the ADA programming language.

Responsibilities

• Perform IV&V processes and procedures, including reviewing and commenting on test plans, test procedures, and test scripts.
• Review engineering specifications, documents, drawings, and plans.
• Review system, software, and hardware test procedures.
• Witness Formal Qualification and System Acceptance Testing at land-based test facilities.
• Validate requirements.
• Carry out audits of computer software units.
• Perform technical reviews of Software Requirements Specifications, System Specifications, Interface Requirements Specifications, and Requirements Databases.
• Execute ADA software code inspections and At-Sea Certification Trials of hardware and software.
