About The Position

Avint is seeking a highly skilled Senior Systems Engineer to support a mission-critical program within the National Capital Region. This role focuses on the design, implementation, operations, maintenance, and cybersecurity of complex, large-scale IT infrastructure supporting secure environments. As part of a high-performing engineering team, you will contribute to building and sustaining resilient, secure, and scalable systems that meet stringent government requirements. This position requires deep technical expertise, strong problem-solving abilities, and experience working in highly secure, classified environments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or related engineering discipline
  • 5+ years of progressive systems engineering experience
  • Experience delivering IT infrastructure and integrated system solutions in secure environments
  • Strong background in data center and virtualized infrastructure technologies
  • Experience with: VMware ESXi and vSphere Microsoft Windows Server and Windows environments Active Directory and Group Policy DNS, DFS, DHCP WSUS and KMS Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) and Certificate Authorities
  • Experience with scripting and automation (PowerShell, Python, Bash, JSON, etc.)
  • Familiarity with API management
  • Experience implementing highly secure systems aligned with cybersecurity and information assurance requirements
  • Meet DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification requirements
  • Strong communication skills with ability to engage technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience working in multidisciplinary teams
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio)
  • Active Top Secret/SCI with Polygraph required
  • U.S. Citizenship required

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree preferred
  • Experience with enterprise application virtualization (e.g., Active Directory, SQL Server, SharePoint)
  • Familiarity with SCCM and OS deployment
  • Experience with enterprise storage solutions (NetApp, Dell EMC, Pure Storage, etc.)
  • Knowledge of DoD security standards (DISA STIGs/SRGs)
  • Experience with networking, SQL infrastructure, and software-defined environments
  • Relevant vendor certifications (VMware, Cisco, Microsoft, etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop architectural frameworks for complex IT systems and infrastructure
  • Provide technical leadership across requirements development, engineering, integration, and testing
  • Support automation and optimization of engineering processes
  • Conduct system assessments including upgrades, migrations, and new deployments
  • Develop conceptual designs and implementation plans, including work breakdown structures (WBS)
  • Perform research, prototyping, and integration of emerging technologies
  • Develop and maintain system architecture, design documentation, and test plans
  • Support configuration management and lifecycle sustainment activities
  • Interface with government stakeholders on technical issues and system improvements
  • Conduct system testing and validation against defined requirements
  • Participate in interface design and system integration across multiple teams
