About The Position

Collins Aerospace is currently seeking qualified candidates for Senior Systems Engineer roles in our Military Avionics Flight Management department located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Teams are comprised of cross-functional engineers working in an AGILE environment (approximately 6-10 people) focused on the design and development of flight management software applications. Team culture is extremely collaborative and engaged; we value our customers, our products, and our people. This position may require the commitment of professional working hours that may require the employee to extend beyond a typical 7:30am to 4:30pm workday, or beyond a 40-hour work week.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience.
  • 4+ years of experience with C, C++, DOORS, ADA, and/or Python.
  • 4+ years of experience in a Systems role.

Nice To Haves

  • Industry Experience of Software Lifecycle Development (Design, Requirements, Integration, Test)
  • Pilot/Avionics Experience (i.e. Private Pilot, Aircraft Maintenance, DO-178 Certification)
  • Ability to obtain a DoD Security Clearance if needed after day 1.

Responsibilities

  • Work within a team of Systems and Software engineers to design, develop, and test software features for flight management systems that are integrated into military helicopters and planes
  • Master your knowledge of Systems Engineering and Flight Management Systems
  • Integrate soft skills (leadership, communication, coordination, proactiveness) into a dynamic environment that provides quality and timely products to internal and external customers.
  • Travel (domestic and international <10%) as needed.
