About The Position

PeopleTec is currently seeking a Senior Systems Engineer in our Huntsville, AL location to support the Low Cost Munitions (LCM) Product Office, part of Advanced Fires Project Office (AFPO) within Program Acquisition Executive (PAE) Fires. The LCM group has an immediate need a technical leader to guide requirements, architecture, integration, and test activities for LCM systems. The Senior Systems Engineer will provide expertise in ensuring system-level rigor, leading technical reviews, and advising government leadership on engineering risks and opportunities. This role requires a strong track record of systems engineering leadership on complex Department of War (DoW) programs and the ability to mentor junior engineers while driving execution across the system lifecycle.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of engineering experience, with significant DoD systems engineering leadership.
  • Experience with DoD programs and defense contractors.
  • Demonstrated experience leading system design, integration, and test for complex defense systems.
  • Proficiency in systems engineering methodologies, digital engineering tools, and MBSE practices.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills, with ability to brief senior Army and DoD leaders.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Active U.S. DoD Secret clearance is required to perform this work. Candidates are required to have a Secret clearance upon hire, and the ability to maintain this clearance level during employment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development and validation of system requirements and architecture for LCM systems.
  • Guide system integration efforts and oversee technical performance analyses.
  • Develop comprehensive technical documentation including system specifications, interface control documents, and design descriptions
  • Prepare technical reports, presentations, and briefings for leadership, stakeholders, and review boards.
  • Collaborate with production, quality, test, and systems engineering teams to ensure weapon capabilities meet end user requirements.
  • Support configuration management and change control processes.
  • Lead technical reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR) and ensure engineering rigor across the lifecycle.
  • Advise program leadership on system engineering risks, opportunities, and trade-offs.
  • Oversee verification and validation planning and execution for prototypes and fielded systems.
  • Support development of acquisition strategies and technical readiness assessments.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior and mid-level engineers.
