About The Position

Moog’s Santa Barbara Operations provides sub-systems and components for every mission critical system on a modern military vehicle. Our heritage is in electrohydraulic and electromechanical actuation systems and now, through acquisitions and internal development, Moog provides expert solutions in: Stabilized Turret Drive Systems, Integrated Weapon Systems (full turret from mechanical design to fire control electronics and software), Ammunition Handling, Data Control and Distribution, Power Management and Distribution. We are looking for a Senior Systems Engineer at our location in Santa Barbara, California. We provide sub-systems and components for every mission critical system on a modern military vehicle. Our heritage is in electrohydraulic and electromechanical actuation systems and now, through acquisitions and internal development.

Requirements

  • BS with an emphasis in Control Systems and Signal Processing
  • 5 years industry experience
  • Classical and modern control systems design knowledge
  • Signal processing and data analysis knowledge.
  • Hands-on experience working with the hardware and software aspects of electro-mechanical systems.
  • MATLAB/Simulink knowledge
  • Proficiency with MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • High level of motivation and willingness to learn.
  • Strong work ethic
  • Ability to access US export-controlled information.
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • MS with an emphasis in Control Systems and Signal Processing preferred.
  • Turret fire control systems design, integration, and test experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide systems engineering support for the design, development, integration, test, and verification of highly complex electro-mechanical systems.
  • Interface with customers, suppliers, and stakeholders to generate component and subsystem specifications.
  • Define hardware and software interfaces between subsystems.
  • Develop, test, analyze, and document turret fire control algorithms.
  • Build linear and nonlinear dynamic models and simulations to evaluate system performance.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance for development teams.
  • Support lab and field testing.
  • Generate technical documentation (plans, reports)
  • Occasional travel required.
