About The Position

This position supports the Engineering Team at the GMRE HQ (South Ogden, UT). The Senior Systems Engineer will be responsible for integration of aircraft systems including design, analysis, substantiation, and coordination of projects for DoD and commercial derivative aircraft.

  • Must be able to obtain an active U.S. SECRET clearance and be subject to a government security investigation.
  • Driving or renting a car for company business is expected with some frequency. For insurance purposes, a valid driver’s license is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Failure modes, effects, and criticality analysis (FMECA), Systems Safety, MIL-STD-1629A, and MIL-STD-882.
  • Experience using requirements database tools (DOORS, Jama, Cameo Requirements Modeler, e.g.)

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrated experience in systems engineering processes, including requirements development, requirement allocation, change management, verification and validation
  • Demonstrated experience working with multi-disciplinary teams including meeting schedule and performance goals
  • Use Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) for architecture to requirements traceability and interface development
  • Plan, coordinate, and schedule test and evaluation activities to ensure that test requirements and objectives are met per customer/program requirements and engineering and quality standards
  • Develop and execute ground test procedures and support active flight line testing
  • Ability to develop basis of certification, determine methods of compliance, and compliance verification documentation for civil and military airworthiness certification of air systems
  • Achieves the logical and systematic realization of customer airworthiness compliance (MIL-HDBK-516, NAVAIR Instruction 13034.1G, civil, and international standards) into system solutions to meet program objectives (e.g. flight releases, type certification, continued airworthiness, and operational or airspace integration)
  • Support expectations, preparations, and delivery for major gate reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR)
  • Monitor compliance to applicable codes, practices, QA/QC policies, performance standards and specifications while performing overall quality control of the team’s work and report regularly on project status
  • Familiarity with Failure modes, effects, and criticality analysis (FMECA), Systems Safety, MIL-STD-1629A, and MIL-STD-882.
  • Interact with the clients to interpret their needs and requirements
  • Review and develop engineering deliverables and initiate appropriate corrective actions
  • Experience using requirements database tools (DOORS, Jama, Cameo Requirements Modeler, e.g.)
  • Maximize project efficiency and profitability
  • Develop scope and parameters for project design and implementation
  • Identify project responsibilities, delegating phases and elements to the appropriate engineering discipline
  • Support development of the full project-plan lifecycle
  • Provide support to other company elements as required
