About The Position

Suvi Global Services is looking for a talented Sr. Systems Engineer to add to their dynamic team supporting highly visible federal contracts. This role supports and provides security monitoring and auditing. The Systems Engineer will work directly with clients and technical teams to provide recommendations and assistance regarding systems engineering and development. This role also supports various projects as required. This is a remote role with approximately 25% on-site work. Candidates must be located within a commutable distance to Herndon, VA.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree, 4+ years of military active duty, or 5+ years relevant experience in a technical or analytical field.
Active Secret Clearance required with an eligibility to hold Top Secret.
5+ years Cloud and Kubernetes experience.
Superb written and oral communication skills.
Expert in DevSecOps methodologies and how to build and operate reliable systems.
Knowledge of networking fundamentals in the cloud and datacenter.
JavaScript/Typescript, Bash, and general programming experience.
Knowledge of AWS including EKS, Advanced networking, Organizations, Control Tower, and associated services.
AWS associate level certification, and Kubernetes developer (CKAD) or administrator (CKA).
A deep understanding of HTTP performance and security.
Expert of Linux and Kubernetes administration and services.
Familiarity with the fundamentals of Agile project management.

Nice To Haves

Elasticsearch, Kibana and Logstash experience.
Networking tools such as AWS transit gateway and Fortinet products.
AWS Professional and/or Specialty (Database, Security, Advanced Networking, or Machine learning) certifications.
AWS CDK.
Security Specialist (CKS).
Knowledge and certification of other cloud platforms such as GCP and Azure, or private platforms such as OpenShift.
Deploying Kubernetes in a physical environment.

Responsibilities

Troubleshoot MySQL (MariaDB) and Postgresql databases deployed with services like AWS RDS and Aurora, or Kubernetes Cloud Native Postgres.
Cloud platform agnostic with a focus on AWS and Azure.
Ensure software updates are correctly deployed.
Manage and use the Git version control system.
Maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
Troubleshoot source code, identify, and correct errors using systems debugging tools.
Ensure all systems have broad useful instrumentation in place and develop monitoring systems that provide actionable alerts based on those metrics.
Make use of DevOps tools, such as Terraform, Kubernetes, ArgoCD, Jenkins, and Git to write tools that automate everything you are responsible for.
Build and maintain Kubernetes and cloud centric CI/CD pipeline the use of containers.
Support full application lifecycle development by advising developers on how to provide stable and secure code.
Understanding of security best practices and ability to implement NIST 800-53 in Cloud environments.
Understanding of Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG) is a plus.
Familiar with traditional virtualization platforms.
Integrate traditional deployments with serverless platforms such as the Microsoft Power Platform.
