About The Position

This position provides Systems Engineering (SE) and Systems Analysis integration support to the Systems Analysis Branch (EV73), supporting NASA's Space Launch System (SLS) Program and Artemis missions. The successful candidate supports management, assessment, integration, and use of Design Math Models (DMMs) across the SLS engineering lifecycle. The role combines systems engineering expertise, substantial experience applying modeling and simulation (M&S), analytical problem solving, and process development, with work across organizational and technical boundaries to investigate process issues, organize engineering information, and produce defensible engineering documents supporting SLS launch operations. The position involves evaluating DMM metadata, model pedigree, intended use, configuration, verification and validation evidence, and supporting technical data. The engineer supports technical reviews, model and simulation criticality assessments, model credibility activities, and integration of models, requirements, configuration information, engineering data, and technical products throughout the product lifecycle. The role also includes forensic analysis of technical information, development and improvement of engineering processes and workflows, and collaboration with software developers and data integration organizations to define needs and improve tools and applications. The work is in an office environment and includes communication and interaction with coworkers, management, and the client; domestic U.S. travel is required (5%). The role requires prolonged computer use, sitting for meetings and desk work, and use of general office equipment. Normal hours are 7:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Minimal overtime may be required (10%) to meet schedule milestones and technical demands.

  • Excellent oral and written communication, customer relations, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical information to technical personnel and senior management.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, make rational decisions, and exercise good judgment.
  • Ability to provide clear, concise, accurate, and timely verbal and written communication and interact professionally with coworkers, management, and the client.
  • Ability to work at a computer for extended periods and sit for extended periods during meetings and desk work; ability to use stairs or elevators to access floors and buildings.
  • Ability to operate a personal computer, telephone, fax machine, copier, calculator, and other general office equipment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with Configuration Management and/or Data Management principles, processes, and organizations.
