The position is part of a team of solution architects deploying capabilities for Information Operations; Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance; and Meteorology and Oceanography. The engineer applies systems engineering, systems modeling, product lifecycle management, modeling and simulation, and related methods and tools to construct, steward, curate, and use end-to-end digital content for client programs. The role develops mission-aligned system architectures and supports system-of-systems integration across acquisition and system life cycles, using digital engineering practices such as digital threads and digital twins. The position is onsite in San Diego, California, is a day job, and requires travel approximately 10% of the time. A Secret clearance is required, with the ability to obtain TS/SCI. The target salary range is $100,001–$140,000, depending on experience and other factors.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, or Mathematics, or applicable experience in lieu of advanced education.
  • Two years of experience; four additional years of experience may substitute for a degree.
  • Active Secret clearance and ability to obtain TS/SCI clearance.
  • Familiarity with system-level architecture development, systems modeling, and advanced digital engineering tools.
  • Ability to work with and build relationships with stakeholders, government technical representatives, and supporting contractors.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to brief senior government personnel.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, including the ability to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities in a dynamic environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Basic familiarity with defense acquisition.
  • Experience with C4ISR military systems.
  • Prior military experience.
  • Hands-on experience or certification with SysML-based tools such as Cameo Systems Modeler (MagicDraw), IBM Rational Rhapsody, Siemens Teamcenter, or Dassault Systèmes 3DEXPERIENCE Suite.
  • Experience working in collaborative, team-based environments.

Responsibilities

  • Integrate mission-oriented digital engineering practices into system-of-systems frameworks across acquisition and system life cycles.
  • Develop and optimize systems-level architectures aligned with Integrated Mission Value principles and BAIO mission needs at strategic, operational, and tactical levels.
  • Facilitate collaboration among technical leads, stakeholders, government representatives, and cross-functional teams.
  • Apply digital engineering practices, including digital threads and digital twins, to connect BAIO programs and support decision-making.
  • Use tools and technologies to manage models, generate workflows, and improve project prioritization and integration across the system lifecycle.
  • Focus systems engineering efforts on mission value and explain how systems support critical defense objectives.
  • Build unified system-of-systems foundations that align programs and support cohesive portfolio delivery.
