About The Position

This role is responsible for designing, deploying, testing, and maintaining the organization’s backup systems and all related components. This includes working with SAN, NAS, tape systems, local disk, Fibre Channel, iSCSI, and other storage technologies.

Requirements

  • Minimum 6 years of experience with NetBackup and IBM Spectrum Protect Suite
  • Top Secret / SCI Clearance, Must Have Clearance to Start
  • Experience working with SAN, NAS, tape systems, local disk, Fibre Channel, iSCSI, and other storage technologies.
  • Experience building and maintaining backup solutions for both physical and virtual machines across Linux and Windows, using OEM and third‑party tools.
  • Experience configuring and provisioning backups for Linux and Windows servers.
  • Experience strengthening and maintaining security throughout the backup environment.
  • Experience monitoring backups, resolving issues, troubleshooting failures, addressing performance bottlenecks, and configuring alerting for proactive response.
  • Experience installing, configuring, testing, and maintaining system management tools, SAN and tape infrastructure, and server plugins.
  • Experience ensuring high system availability by verifying data replication, failover copies, and redundant datasets.
  • Experience monitoring and testing application performance, identifying bottlenecks, and collaborating with developers on solutions.
  • Experience maintaining security, backup, and redundancy strategies.
  • Experience writing and maintaining scripts to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention (including IaaS backup monitoring).
  • Experience supporting the design of information and operational support systems.
  • Experience providing Tier 3 support.
  • Experience working with vendors and other IT teams to resolve issues.
  • Experience maintaining thorough and up‑to‑date technical documentation, including inventory, patch levels, system configuration details, hostnames, IPs, and credentials.
  • Experience integrating systems with Linux and Windows as needed for core services.
  • Experience documenting system configurations such as passwords, access controls, version/revision numbers, patch levels, and hardware inventory.
  • Experience training government staff and transferring knowledge using industry best practices.
  • Experience providing real‑time reporting on backup storage usage, performance metrics, availability, and trends for tape and disk systems.

Responsibilities
