Raytheon is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer (Hardware Engineering) to support satellite communication (SATCOM) operations and maintenance (O&M) and ground systems engineering. In this role, you will also act as a subject matter expert for future communication system designs, projects, and upgrades. Location: Alexandria, Virginia

Requirements

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM preferred) and a minimum of 5 years of prior engineering experience or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in SATCOM operations, sustainment, or theory.
  • Experience with IT systems (servers, desktop computers, routers, switches) and SATCOM-related test equipment (spectrum analyzers, multimeters, signal generators).
  • Experience in presentations.
  • An active and transferable TS/SCI CI Poly U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for the required security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • SATCOM O&M experience (military, defense contractor, or commercial)
  • Experience in Windows and Linux
  • Experience with facility support systems for SATCOM systems (power, HVAC, IDS, etc.)
  • CompTIA Security+ certification or higher
  • COMSEC experience

Responsibilities

  • Conduct system fault isolation, real-time system restoration, discrepancy report resolution, O&M training/mentoring, procedure development, data collection, and trend analysis.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, contractors, and stakeholders to validate operational performance and capabilities.
  • Drive innovation by contributing to the development of new concepts that provide value to our customers.
  • Support integration and testing efforts as required.
  • Perform O&M activities in environments, including data centers and outdoor locations. This may involve tasks such as climbing stairs, working at heights, lifting/carrying up to 50 lbs., and operating in non-climate-controlled spaces.
  • While this is primarily a day-shift position, participation in a 24/7 operations environment may require off-duty call-in support on a rotating basis.
