About The Position

The Senior Systems & Calibration Engineer develops, designs, documents, and applies laboratory instrumentation, automated test systems, and test fixtures for laboratory testing and infrastructure upgrades. The role supports installation, testing, and validation to ensure quality compliance and alignment with user requirements, and responds to requests to repair or modify existing systems. It operates laboratory equipment as directed and records support activities on appropriate UL forms when applicable. The position schedules, calibrates, and maintains laboratory instrumentation and apparatus; may determine instrument accuracy and measurement uncertainty; issues calibration certificates under internal procedures; and verifies calibration certificates from external providers. It develops internal calibration and maintenance procedures, defines requirements for equipment sent for external calibration, and adapts methods, processes, tools, and techniques to meet complex requirements. It also updates automation hardware and software, prepares technical documentation, advises and trains users, and may assist with test-method development and validation. The role may plan laboratory support activities, evaluate results, contribute to annual budgetary and capital expenditure goals, and lead laboratory capital projects, including technical scope, schedules, budgets, vendor interactions, and Facility Department support. It seeks automation opportunities to address complex testing issues and works with global colleagues to promote consistent, efficient, and scalable laboratory systems within its local scope. The engineer integrates continuous improvement into the work, follows UL business conduct and security practices, and performs other duties as directed.
