This opportunity resides with Warfare Systems (WS), a business group within HII’s Mission Technologies division. Warfare Systems comprises cyber and mission IT; electronic warfare; and C5ISR systems. These capabilities guide how all employees contribute to our shared success across Mission Technologies. HII - Mission Technologies is seeking a Systems Engineer to join our Fort Meade, MD team. This role supports a multi-national initiative that connects existing national Secret networks and services to enhance information-sharing capabilities among Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and the United States. The System Engineer manages, patches, implements, and optimizes Nutanix, Active Directory, Microsoft technologies, VMware, and storage infrastructure. This role leverages expertise to deliver a secure, fault-tolerant, scalable, and flexible hyper-converged infrastructure to support real-world operations. The Engineer will also troubleshoot issues related to the specified technologies and backup systems, coordinating implementations with internal staff and vendor personnel.

Requirements

  • 9 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 7 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 13 years relevant experience.
  • Active DoD 8140 certifications. (Sec+, CYSA+, etc.)
  • Active Secret clearance (minimum).
  • Excellent Problem‑Solving Capabilities
  • Demonstrated success working in small teams to address complex technical challenges.
  • Strong Linux Experience and Expertise
  • Strong Windows Server Experience
  • Programming Expertise
  • Comfortable working with multiple programming and scripting languages.
  • Strong experience with C#, PowerShell, and Bash.
  • Familiarity with web‑based applications, ideally running under Tomcat.
  • Solid understanding of programming best practices, object‑oriented concepts, and common design patterns.
  • Working knowledge of basic SQL.
  • Some Architecture Background
  • Familiarity with DoDAF diagramming methods.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred experience supporting on‑premises ServiceNow deployments.
  • Preferred familiarity with MySQL.
  • Experience with database replication is a plus.
  • Experience working with VMware environments.
  • Experience applying STIGs to servers.
  • Exposure to Tenable vulnerability‑scanning products.

Responsibilities

  • Manages, patches, implements, and optimizes Nutanix, Active Directory, Microsoft technologies, VMware, and storage infrastructure.

  • Documents current and proposed system architectures clearly and accurately.
