About The Position

The Senior Systems Administrator plays a critical role in ensuring the stability, performance, security, and modernization of Gateway Casinos & Entertainment’s core technology platforms. This role is responsible for the implementation, and ongoing operation of enterprise infrastructure across on?premises and cloud environments, with a strong focus on Microsoft Azure, Nutanix, and cost?optimized operations through FinOps practices. Working closely with IT Operations, Architecture, Cyber Security, and Application teams, the Senior Systems Administrator provides deep technical expertise, operational leadership, and continuous improvement to support a highly available, regulated, and business?critical gaming and hospitality environment.

Requirements

  • 7-10 years of progressive experience in systems administration or infrastructure engineering roles within mid?to?large enterprise environments
  • Strong hands?on experience with: Microsoft Azure (IaaS, networking, identity, security, monitoring)
  • Nutanix AHV and associated infrastructure services
  • Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP
  • Working knowledge of FinOps concepts and experience managing or optimizing cloud and infrastructure costs
  • Experience supporting highly available, business?critical systems in regulated environments (e.g., gaming, financial services, healthcare)
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across infrastructure, networking, and platform layers
  • Experience with backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning
  • Familiarity with automation and scripting such as PowerShell or Python
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts for non?technical stakeholders

Responsibilities

  • Implement and support enterprise infrastructure solutions across hybrid environments, including cloud, on?premises data centers, Casino properties
  • Lead day?to?day administration and optimization of Windows Server, Active Directory, virtualization, storage, and backup environments
  • Manage and evolve Azure infrastructure services including compute, networking, identity, security, and monitoring
  • Apply FinOps principles to optimize cloud and infrastructure spend, including cost monitoring, forecasting, rightsizing, and governance
  • Partner with Architecture and Cyber Security teams to ensure infrastructure aligns with enterprise standards, Cyber Security controls, and regulatory requirements
  • Act as a senior escalation point for complex incidents, problem management, and root?cause analysis
  • Plan and execute infrastructure upgrades, lifecycle management, patching, and capacity planning activities
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, standards, and operational runbooks
  • Mentor junior team members and contribute to improving operational maturity, automation, and reliability
  • Participate in after?hours support as required for critical systems and events
