About The Position

Peraton has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Systems Administrator to provide system engineering, application and hardware support working with a Peraton Federal Customer in Annapolis Junction, MD. This on-site position offers the right candidate the chance to contribute to important work in support of our country. The right candidate will hold an active TS/SCI clearance, with the ability to obtain a polygraph if one is not currently held. Work Location: Annapolis Junction, MD; onsite 5 days a week.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree and 8 years of experience, or a Masters degree and 6 years of experience, or an Associates degree and 10 years of experience, or a High School diploma/equivalent and 12 years of experience.
  • US Citizenship required.
  • Active TS/SCI security clearance required.
  • Experience in technical support, network engineering, systems engineering, Windows software engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows operating systems, including system configuration, troubleshooting, services, scheduled tasks, security policies, firewall and port configuration, registry, disk management, and administrative tools.
  • Excellent customer support and troubleshooting skills, including the ability to identify problems, communicate clearly with customers, resolve issues in a timely manner, and document solutions.
  • Strong understanding of system integration and data flow, including the ability to troubleshoot issues across multiple system components, identify disruptions, determine corrective actions, and restore system functionality and data integrity.
  • Experience monitoring system health, performance, throughput, and log files to proactively identify and resolve issues.
  • Basic networking and systems administration experience, including network connectivity, domain/machine/user administration, drive mapping, file sharing, and Remote Desktop.
  • Experience diagnosing and repairing Windows-based PCs, including hardware replacement, operating system and application installation/configuration, and device driver troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with file and directory permissions, access controls, and Windows security configurations.

Nice To Haves

  • Active Polygraph level clearance preferred.
  • Experience with Cisco switches, firewalls, and firewall rules.
  • Experience installing and configuring server operating systems and RAID.
  • Experience with virtualization technologies, such as VMware or Hyper-V.
  • Intermediate networking knowledge, including network topologies, communication protocols, and network layers.
  • Training or experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Microsoft Azure.

Responsibilities

  • Provide systems administration, engineering, application, and hardware support for mission-critical federal systems.
  • Proactively monitor software and hardware platforms to maintain system health, performance, throughput, and availability.
  • Troubleshoot complex system integration and data flow issues, identify disruptions, determine corrective actions, and restore system functionality and data integrity.
  • Administer, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain Windows-based servers, workstations, and PCs, including operating systems, applications, hardware, and device drivers.
  • Support the virtualization of IAFIS servers onto Microsoft Hyper-V, including high availability, failover, backup, and system recovery capabilities.
  • Perform advanced Windows system administration, including services, scheduled tasks, security policies, firewall and port configurations, registry settings, disk management, and user/group administration.
  • Manage network connectivity, domains, users and machines, drive mapping, file permissions and sharing, access controls, and Remote Desktop.
  • Perform system upgrades, customizations, vulnerability patching, and ongoing maintenance of servers, workstations, and peripherals.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot SQL Server databases, processes, logs, and Gordano email services, including POP/SMTP communication issues.
  • Respond to customer support requests by investigating, resolving, communicating, and documenting technical issues through resolution.
  • Support ad hoc reporting, planning, and technical research requests from the customer.
  • Collaborate with customers and technical teams to maintain secure, reliable, and highly available systems in support of federal mission requirements.
