About The Position

The Senior Systems Administrator will serve as a key member of the IT team, responsible for maintaining and optimizing enterprise infrastructure including backup systems, storage, and corporate network operations. This position works closely with the IT Director and field network staff to ensure reliable, secure IT operations across QB Energy's Denver headquarters and Piceance Basin field locations. This role is designed for a hands-on technical professional with leadership potential. The successful candidate will have opportunities to grow into IT management, taking on increased responsibility for strategic planning, vendor management, and team leadership over time. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in enterprise backup and recovery systems, storage infrastructure, and network administration. They will be comfortable working independently, managing contractor relationships, and supporting both corporate users and field operations in an oil and gas environment.

Requirements

• Minimum 7 years of professional experience in IT infrastructure or systems administration
• Hands-on experience with Veeam Backup & Replication and Scale backup systems
• Hands-on experience with Dell EMC Data Domain or similar deduplication storage systems
• Hands-on experience with Cisco Meraki network equipment
• Experience with Windows Server administration, Active Directory, and Group Policy
• Experience with Microsoft Hyper-V virtualization
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks effectively
• Strong communication skills; able to explain technical issues to non-technical stakeholders
• Experience with PowerShell, Python, or other scripting languages for automation
• Valid Colorado driver's license

Nice To Haves

• Experience in oil and gas or similar industrial environments
• Familiarity with SCADA systems and operational technology (OT) environments
• Previous experience coordinating or supervising contractors or junior staff
• Relevant certifications are valued but not required. These include: Cisco Meraki Solutions Specialist (CMSS), Veeam Certified Engineer (VMCE or VMCE-E), Microsoft Certified: Identity and Access Administrator Associate (SC-300), Microsoft 365 Administrator Expert (MS-102), Parallels RAS Technical Professional (RAS-TP), or Scale Computing SCCP training. (CCNA, Microsoft, Veeam, etc.) are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain Microsoft Windows Server environment including Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and certificate services
• Manage and maintain Scale Computing HC3 hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI) encompassing compute, storage, and virtualization
• Oversee hybrid identity infrastructure, managing synchronization between on-premises AD and Azure Entra ID, Microsoft 365 administration, and Power BI data gateway connectivity
• Administer network infrastructure including Meraki cloud-managed firewalls, Meraki and Cisco switches, and Meraki wireless systems
• Maintain backup environment using Veeam with Dell Data Domain, remote access via Parallels RAS, and VPN services through Absolute NetMotion
• Administer and maintain Linux server instances, including configuration, certificate management, and availability monitoring
• Manage and maintain virtual machine environments, ensuring availability, performance, and lifecycle management across the infrastructure
• Administer and support enterprise application servers including Spotfire, Petra, and Cygnet; ensure availability, patching, and coordination with vendors and internal stakeholders
• Provide infrastructure support for data engineering and software engineering teams, including environment provisioning, connectivity, and system reliability
• Provide escalation support for field network issues; collaborate with the IT Sr. Field Systems Administrator to troubleshoot SCADA connectivity, wireless links, and remote site infrastructure
• Coordinate with third-party contractors and vendors on projects, maintenance, and support activities
• Ensure compliance with security policies and best practices; participate in security monitoring and incident response
• Participate in IT planning and budgeting; evaluate new technologies and make recommendations
• Develop PowerShell scripts and automation tools; maintain documentation of systems, network diagrams, configurations, and procedures
