About The Position

Kentro is hiring for a Senior (Cleared) Systems Administrator to support the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency. This role involves designing, deploying, configuring, securing, monitoring, and managing cloud-based infrastructure components, operating systems, and web analytics platforms. The position requires troubleshooting complex system, network, and database issues, performing system health checks and backups, and managing security patches and user access. A key responsibility is obtaining and maintaining Authority To Operate (ATO) system accreditation, including implementing STIGs, collaborating with accreditation authorities, and managing POA&Ms. The role also involves monitoring enterprise security services and vulnerability dashboards, and providing expert technical guidance to leadership.

Requirements

  • 10-15 years of experience with Cloud Infrastructure & Automation
  • Deep experience with AWS (VPC, EC2, RDS, Lambda, S3, IAM, CloudFormation, CloudWatch).
  • Cloud architecture design, deployment, security hardening, and monitoring.
  • Infrastructure‑as‑Code (IaC) and automation best practices.
  • Advanced administration of Red Hat Enterprise Linux, CentOS, and Windows Server.
  • OS installation, configuration, upgrading, securing, and patching in compliance with DoD, IC, and NGA policies.
  • Familiarity with STIGs and security hardening methodologies.
  • Expertise with Apache, PHP, MySQL, and enterprise‑class web analytics platforms.
  • Managing and optimizing web servers, databases, and application environments.
  • Strong diagnostic ability across systems, networks, and databases.
  • Documentation and resolution of complex technical issues.
  • Regular system health checks, backups, performance monitoring, and trend analysis.
  • Implementing and maintaining ATO/cATO requirements, including POA&M creation and XACTA population.
  • Monitoring and responding to vulnerabilities via Enterprise Security Services (ESS).
  • Applying OS and application security patches systematically and maintaining audit logs.
  • Ability to design, build, and maintain custom scripts (shell, Python, PowerShell, etc.).
  • Automating inventory, tracking, reporting, and other system operations across multiple security enclaves.
  • User account and access control management following least‑privilege principles.
  • Experience with Active Directory, DNS, Cloud Operations, GE0AxIS, VDSS, and related identity/security services.
  • Providing expert‑level guidance to program leadership.
  • Staying current on emerging web analytics technologies and trends.
  • Clear documentation of system configurations, processes, issues, and compliance actions.
  • Maintaining inventory of hardware/software assets.
  • Deploying software releases, upgrades, and enterprise‑wide changes.
  • Active TS/SCI with willingness to take CI Poly

Nice To Haves

  • Comprehensive understanding of NGA’s web ecosystem and topology.
  • Experience with PHP, Python, Bash, and PowerShell.
  • Experience maintaining high-traffic web servers, AWS cloud technologies, security, and encryption.
  • Experience within software/web/HTML development field.
  • Experience creating, deploying, configuring, and maintaining cloud-based MySQL and other relational databases.
  • Experience working with JavaScript, Web Services, SQL, and MySQL.

Responsibilities

  • Design, deploy, configure, secure, monitor, and manage a variety of cloud-based infrastructure components hosted within multiple cloud providers, including Amazon Web Service’s VPC, EC2, RDS, Lambda, S3, Cloud Formation, CloudWatch, IAM, etc.
  • Install, configure, secure, upgrade, and maintain multiple operating systems such as Red Hat Enterprise Linux, CENTOS, and Windows Server in accordance with DoD, IC, and NGA policies.
  • Maintain several enterprise-class web analytics collection platforms utilizing PHP, MySQL, Apache, and other similar technologies.
  • Troubleshoot, document, and fix complex system, network, and database issues.
  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly system health checks and backups.
  • Evaluate and install application and operating system security patches while maintaining a log of system problems, errors, failures, trends, and downtime metrics.
  • Maintain hardware and software inventory lists and install software releases and upgrades.
  • Create and manage application user accounts and access control using least privilege methodologies.
  • Design, create, and utilize complex, custom scripts to inventory, track, and report NGA’s official Web Inventory and associated web attributes on all security enclave.
  • Provide program and senior leadership with expert level technical guidance on current and emerging web analytics technologies, tends, and potential issues.
  • Perform and document all required actions necessary to obtain and maintain a full Authority To Operate (ATO) system accreditation, including implementing Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG), collaborating with accreditation authorities, creating Plan of Action and Milestones (POA&M), populating XACTA, etc.
  • Monitor Enterprise Security Services (ESS) and vulnerability dashboards and implement necessary corrective actions to maintain ESS compliance and Continuous Authority To Operate (cATO).
  • Experience with GEOAxIS, VDSS, Cloud Operations, Active Directory, DNS, etc.
