About The Position

HP IQ is HP’s AI innovation lab, combining startup agility with HP’s global scale to develop intelligent technologies across HP’s portfolio. The lab brings together engineers, designers, researchers, and product teams to create intuitive, adaptive solutions that support creativity, productivity, and collaboration, with a human-centric approach. The System Software team enables on-device experiences to take full advantage of HP hardware capabilities. The team works with internal and external partners and focuses on solutions tailored to its hardware, sensors, algorithms, and interaction models. The role involves system design and architecture, low-level software development, and solving interdisciplinary hardware and software challenges in a startup environment.

Requirements

At least 8 years of experience in system software engineering and embedded platforms.
Experience with at least one of C++ or C.
Strong background in systems design and architecture.

Nice To Haves

Familiarity with modern C++.
Experience with Android development, Linux, or Windows.
Familiarity with optimization tools such as Perfmon or Valgrind.
Experience porting reference algorithms to hardware accelerators such as GPUs or DSPs.
Familiarity with ARM System-on-Chip (SoC) architecture.
Experience developing bare-metal firmware for microcontrollers.
Ability to use common lab equipment, such as logic analyzers, to debug low-level software issues.

Responsibilities

Design system software and architecture.
Develop low-level driver and framework software in C and C++.
Develop device-focused infrastructure software in Python.
Debug issues at the hardware-software interface.
Optimize software for performance and lower power consumption.
Participate in software engineering practices, including documentation, testing, and code review.
