About The Position

The Post-Sale Systems Engineering team is crucial to the Systems Integration organization, designing and implementing mission-critical communication solutions for government and public safety customers. This role involves acting as a solution architect and technical consulting lead, with end-to-end design, technology consultancy, and implementation responsibility for post-sale projects. The T5 South Post Sale Systems Engineering Team specifically supports ASTRO 25 network solutions for State and Local Government Public Safety Communications in IL, IN, NE, IA, KY, KS, or MO. The company emphasizes building long-term customer relationships and a trusted advisor status, operating in a high-performance culture with demanding cycle times and high customer expectations due to the mission-critical nature of the systems. Many systems are based on the APCO Project 25 standard, with enhancements for data services like live mobile video transmission using LTE infrastructure.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree (BSEE/BSCE preferred) +3 Years of Engineering or Technology OR 6+ years of Systems Engineering, Wireless Communications experience or Public Safety Technical experience.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely is required.
  • Experience/knowledge in radio communication systems, RF System Design and/or line of sight microwave propagation.
  • Experience, good understanding, and working knowledge in IP networking, network design methodologies & troubleshooting (Ethernet, TCP/IP, L2/L3, MPLS).
  • Certifications through CompTIA Network+, Juniper JNCIA-Junos, Nokia NRS1, CCNA or similar.
  • Excellent communications skills and the ability to present complex topics to nontechnical audiences.
  • Self-motivated and able to maintain focus in a pressured environment.
  • Troubleshoot/monitor network performance and resolve performance and connectivity issues.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience directly working with end-user customers is desirable.
  • Previous knowledge and experience working with Juniper, Aviat, Cisco, Nokia microwave and IP network routing devices.

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing all technical aspects of assigned projects from award until system acceptance.
  • Final design and implementation of the radio network, including infrastructure, subscribers, and mobile backhaul.
  • Delivering professional presentations.
  • System staging.
  • System acceptance testing.
  • Radio coverage testing and interference mitigation.
  • Radio system licensing (FCC/Industry Canada/NTIA).
  • Preparation of system fleetmap, encryption, and radio programming templates.
  • Develop and maintain engineering designs, diagrams, and bill of materials.
  • Provide technical support and advice to PM and Installation teams.
  • Working with Operations and Project Managers to complete site walks to determine specific client needs and scope.
  • Create project-specific install plans, scope documents, and test plans.
  • Configure, integrate, and troubleshoot equipment as required; provide support and assistance to third parties for sub-contracted activities.
  • Act as external liaison for customers’ general contractors, subcontractors, and tradespeople as needed during implementation and support phases.
  • Delivering final customer system documentation.
  • Develop plans and support live system cutovers and upgrades.
