About The Position

FirstCarbon Solutions (FCS), an ADEC Innovation, is seeking a Senior Sustainability Project Manager, Lead GHG Verifier. This role will lead the development and independent 3rd-party verification of GHG inventories (Scope 1, 2, and 3) and related water, waste, and energy data in line with standards, such as GHG Protocol, ISO 14064, PCAF, CARB, Oregon, and Washington Ecology programs.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree or equivalent in Civil and Environmental Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
  • Two (2) years of related experience.
  • Must be accredited as a lead verifier under an environmental regulatory program such as CARB Mandatory Reporting Program (MRR), Low Carbon Fuel Standard (LCFS), Washington State Department of Ecology, or Oregon Department of Environmental Quality.
  • Experience in greenhouse gas accounting, life cycle assessment, or environmental metrics accounting.
  • Managing end-to-end sustainability reporting, including project management and publication of annual report, ratings agency submissions, and other voluntary or regulatory disclosures, ensuring alignment with global reporting standards and frameworks such as GRI, SASB, TCFD, SBTi, CDP, CSRD.
  • Leading verification projects under GHG programs such as CARB (California Air Resources Board), Washington Ecology, Oregon, or The Climate Registry (TCR).
  • Leading internal audits within a verification body, with knowledge of American National Standards Institute (ANSI) standards and audit principles.
  • Experience in life cycle assessment (LCA), including performing modeling in software platforms such as LCA For Experts, calculating environmental impacts, and producing Environmental Product Declaration (EPD).
  • Experience working with GHG programs, protocols, and regulations.
  • Will accept experience gained before, during or after Master’s program.
  • Employer will accept experience gained concurrently.
  • 10-20% domestic travel required to conduct seasonal site visits.

Responsibilities

  • Lead verification projects under CARB (California Air Resources Board), Washington Ecology, Oregon, The Climate Registry (TCR), and other GHG programs.
  • Conduct regulatory risk assessments and design compliance roadmaps to prepare companies for disclosure requirements such as SB253, and SB261.
  • Conduct greenhouse gas and environmental metrics accounting, produce life cycle assessments, integrate life-cycle data into Scope 3 inventories, and advance supplier engagement programs to improve data quality, track emissions, and support net-zero goals.
  • Design corporate decarbonization strategies, such as scenario analyses, renewable energy procurement plans, climate risk analysis, and support ESG reporting aligned with various standards and frameworks.
  • Present insights to executive stakeholders, lead client debriefs and meetings, and actively support business development through drafting proposals, delivering webinars, and engaging in client outreach.
  • Lead internal audit within the verification body, with strong knowledge of American National Standards Institute (ANSI) standards and audit principles.
  • Manage sustainability reporting, publish annual reports, agency ratings submissions and voluntary regulatory disclosures, ensuring alignment with global reporting frameworks like GRI, SASB, TCFD, SBTi, CDP, CSRD.
  • Manage large project portfolios and develop project plans with clearly defined task assignments and schedules.
  • Perform life cycle assessment (LCA), including performing modeling in software platforms such as LCA For Experts, calculating environmental impacts, and producing Environmental Product Declaration (EPD).
  • Work with GHG programs, protocols, and regulations, including CARB; WA, TCR, WRI/WBCSD GHG Protocol, and USEPA mandatory GHG reporting rules.
  • Oversee financial performance, invoicing, and profitability.
  • Develop and maintain strategic client relationships, leading proposals, contracts, and negotiations.
  • Identify opportunities for service innovation, process improvement, and practice area development.
  • Develop templates, training materials, and process flows for the team.
  • Supervise and coach junior staff and cross-functional teams, lead performance reviews.
  • Represent the firm in industry events, conferences, and thought leadership activities.
