Under the general supervision of the circulating registered nurse and in collaboration with the service-line coordinators, clinical supervisors and surgery manager, the surgical technologist III is an individual with demonstrated competence in surgical scrubbing technique(s) who provides scrub services for the department. This role ensures the functionality, availability and sterility of OR supplies and equipment prior to the start of the daily caseload, scrubs and handles instruments during surgical procedures, and adheres to standards of aseptic technique in all phases of surgical intervention. The position also involves assisting service-line coordinators in receiving and stocking supplies/equipment for a cluster of specialties, reporting variations in stock inventory levels, communicating opportunities for systems improvement, and participating in selected patient care activities such as room turnover and transporting as needed. Additionally, the role contributes to meeting the department's budgetary objectives and supports the philosophy, objectives, and goals of hospital administration.
