About The Position

This is an office support position with the Cincinnati Public Schools (CPS). This position is assigned the more difficult clerical and data entry duties in the support of assigned department/school. Must be able to type, file and distribute a variety of documents for CPS. Must be able to answer phone calls and respond to requests for information to provide general support and assistance to assigned supervisor and other Support Specialist. Senior Support Specialists are assigned throughout the District, outside of the Student Services Department. Senior Support Specialist (Elementary) are assigned to Elementary Schools. Student Services Technician I’s are assigned to the Student Services Department.

Requirements

  • Must be a Support Specialist with CPS and have passed their initial probationary period.
  • Knowledge of : Basic mathematical principles.
  • Knowledge of : English usage, spelling, grammar and punctuation.
  • Knowledge of : Typing and word processing techniques.
  • Knowledge of : Department procedures, policies and rules as they relate to assigned position.
  • Skill to: Operate assigned vehicle, machinery, equipment, and tools as appropriate to assigned area of responsibility.
  • Skill to: Operate copy machines, printers, scanners, fax machines, office phone, smart phone, computer, laptop, tablet.
  • Skill to: Utilize Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel and PowerPoint and various Board of Education databases/software.
  • Ability to : Work independently in absence of supervision.
  • Ability to : Communicate clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to : Communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to : Perform routine mathematical calculations.
  • Ability to : Type/word process at a speed necessary for successful job performance.
  • Ability to : Prepare, edit and proofread a variety of documents and correspondence.
  • Ability to : Interpret and explain department/school policies, procedures and rules as they relate to assigned position.
  • Ability to : Establish and maintain professional working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
  • Ability to : Maintain confidentiality of information.
  • Ability to : Work occasional overtime, or other than normal shift to meet work schedules.
  • Must have a valid Driver License.
