The Town of Hopkinton is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Support & Applications Technician. The Senior Support & Applications Technician bridges end-user support with application administration and serves as the escalation point for complex technical issues. This role supports critical Town systems including Munis, Laserfiche, OpenGov, and Granicus, and works closely with vendors and internal stakeholders to maintain and improve system performance. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting the Town’s core business systems and advancing our technology infrastructure. This position serves as the primary resource for enterprise application support and as a Tier 2 technical specialist, helping to ensure reliable, efficient, and user-focused technology services across all Town departments. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys problem-solving, working across departments, and taking ownership of systems and solutions that have a meaningful impact on municipal operations.

Requirements

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related field, or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of experience in IT support, including complex troubleshooting
  • 5+ years of experience supporting business applications and working with vendors
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Experience with Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 environments
  • Experience with Active Directory and core networking concepts (DHCP, DNS)
  • Experience with Help Desk ticketing systems or asset management tools

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in municipal or public sector IT
  • Familiarity with Munis, Laserfiche, OpenGov, Granicus, or similar platforms
  • Experience with scripting or automation (e.g., PowerShell)

Responsibilities
