About The Position

Interact with supplier production and quality departments to ensure production and inspection processes are consistent and adequate to provide the customer organization with a steady flow of goods conforming to product quality and delivery requirements. Help the supplier upgrade to meet customer expectations by using a combination of knowledge, tact, and teaching ability, and by teaming with manufacturing, quality, and engineering experts as needed to support the endeavor. Monitor supplier performance, generate statistical reports, and take action to assist when performance is below the targeted level. Perform on-site supplier audits/surveys.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree required (or in lieu of a degree, equivalent, related work experience, and/or military service)
  • Qualifying experience includes inspection, supervision, fabrication, or QC of welds.
  • 5 or more years of related experience as a Certified Weld Inspector

Nice To Haves

  • Degree Preferred: Mechanical or Welding Engineering or equivalent technical degree
  • 5 or more years of Non-Destructive Test Certified Level II or III NDT (MT, PT, RT, UT and VT) preferred
  • NAS 410/ISO 9712 knowledge preferred
  • Metallurgical and Material Test knowledge preferred
  • ISO 9000 / AS9100 experience preferred with specific knowledge of AS9102 First Article Inspections

Responsibilities

  • Ability to obtain US DOD Clearance - US Citizenship required
  • Plan, devise, and implement approaches for supplier controls and improvement.
  • Develop and generate supplier rating reports and associated statistical data used to assess supplier performance.
  • Provide technical support to inspection and test personnel and design and establish workmanship criteria for projects.
  • Travel to suppliers to perform supplier capability assessments and correlate results to determine supplier suitability for ESA applications.
  • Travel to suppliers to conduct on-site audits of supplier operating systems to determine suppliers’ compliance with minimum operating system requirements.
  • Conduct AS9102 First Article Inspection Reviews
  • Audit suppliers to AS9100 / ISO9001 as needed
  • Drive 8D Root Cause and Corrective Action process with suppliers. Must understand how to utilize different Root Cause tools and methods. Drive effective closed-loop corrective actions to resolve issues and prevent recurrence of rejections. Must know when to solicit internal and external expert advice for the best outcome.
  • Analyze product specifications and supplier processes and determine and specify the type of test and test equipment necessary to accomplish the objective.
  • Assist suppliers in developing process improvement plans to prevent recurrence of any defects.
  • Periodically present supplier performance reports to senior management and respond to supplier performance concerns.
  • Oversee qualification and periodic testing requirements; initiate required customer reports and lead corrective action efforts on failures/defects.
