About The Position

L3Harris Technologies is seeking a Senior Specialist, Quality Engineer to join its Space & Sensors Division in Mason, OH. This individual will report to the Supplier Quality Manager and provide Supplier Quality Engineering (SQE) support for various projects in the Space & Sensor business. Acting as a central point of communication, ensuring that all team members are aligned with project goals, timelines, and budgets; the Sr. SQE will ensure suppliers deliver components that meet all requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and 6 years of Quality Engineering experience or a minimum of 10 years of related experience in lieu of a degree.
  • 5+ years’ experience in reading and interpreting designs/blueprints of complex nature.
  • Understanding applicable quality standards such as AS9100, ISO9001, NADCAP.
  • 5+ years’ experience with problem-solving tools (8D, 5-Why, Value Stream Mapping, CAPA) and quality tools (APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, Control Plans, Gage R&R).
  • 5+ years' experience in auditing Quality Management Systems at suppliers.

  • Lean Manufacturing and 6-Sigma/OpEx Green Belt Certification.
  • ASQ® Certifications.
  • Aerospace or Defense Manufacturing experience.
  • Experience with J-STD Workmanship, ANSI J-Standards (Class 3) and IPC Workmanship Standards (Class 3), Teamcenter and TipQA.
  • Highly motivated and ability to work independently.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Manufacturability assessments of new and/or critical products.
  • Lead from the front and be capable of providing expertise in various manufacturing processes to ensure Design for Manufacturability and Technical Problem-Solving excellence.
  • Leverage direct manufacturing experience to develop suppliers and ensure new and existing suppliers can meet contract requirements.
  • Support the new supplier selection process, providing technical input and expertise.
  • Monitor and manage a portfolio of suppliers to continuously improve supplier performance KPIs in Quality and On-Time-Delivery, while minimizing Cost of Poor Quality.
  • Review and approve PPAP, APQP, and FAIR packages from suppliers.
  • Early detection and resolution of nonconformances.
  • Apply effective interpretation and application of Quality Standards, such as AS9100, ISO-9001, NADCAP, J-STD, IPC standards, etc.
