About The Position

As the technical lead for capital equipment systems, the Sr. Supplier Engineer focuses on assessing, integrating, and stabilizing acquired technologies and supplier networks across Boston Scientific’s acquisition portfolio from early diligence through post-close scale-up. This role is responsible for leading the supplier engineering strategy for capital equipment acquisitions, while ensuring inherited designs and processes meet standards for quality, reliability, scalability, and regulatory compliance. This high-impact, front-end role requires the ability to identify risks early and navigate ambiguous situations along with the confidence to make technical decisions, and the leadership to drive suppliers and internal teams toward resolution under aggressive timelines. This role is based in Arden Hills, Minnesota, and requires flexibility to travel to or assume a short-term relocation in Southern California. Boston Scientific will not offer sponsorship or take over sponsorship of an employment VISA for this position at this time.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or STEM-related discipline
  • Minimum 5 years of experience supporting complex extrusion-based or catheter systems in a regulated manufacturing environment
  • Experience working with external suppliers in a technical leadership role
  • Ability to travel up to 15% globally

  • Experience working in medical device or other GMP-regulated industry
  • Experience working with suppliers and supporting capital equipment within the medical device industry
  • Experience performing technical due diligence and supporting acquisition integration activities
  • Self-driven and results-oriented with strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple-tasks to meet deadlines
  • Working knowledge of risk assessment, process capability analysis, and structured problem-solving methodologies with a good understanding of statistics and six sigma methodologies

Responsibilities

  • Providing technical leadership in Global Sourcing category teams to establish and execute category objectives
  • Conducting risk assessments on sourced materials to develop supplier capacity and capabilities
  • Planning and executing service risk mitigation measures to ensure continuity of component sourcing to manufacturing
  • Supporting suppliers and category teams with investigating supplied material issues and supply constraints
  • Partnering with cross-functional teams on projects to implement BSC- or supplier-initiated changes, including improvement, supplier capability, capacity, and compliance initiatives
  • Serving as a liaison between functional and core teams to compile and convey experimental results and impacts on projects
  • Identifying and recommending resources required to meet project milestones
  • Maintaining compliance with the Quality Policy and all other documented quality processes and procedures to align with commitment to patient safety and product quality
