About The Position

Allen Construction is seeking a residential construction Senior Superintendent who has experience leading high-end custom home builds and knows the client experience matters as much as the craftsmanship. You’ll serve as the trusted leader on site, partnering closely with clients, architects, designers, and trade partners from pre-construction through final walkthrough to ensure a seamless, high-quality experience at every stage.

Requirements

  • 15+ years as a superintendent on high-end custom residential projects, ideally including homes in the $10M+ range.
  • Experience with architect-driven design, fine finishes, and complex details, and with both remodels and custom builds.
  • A proven record of building trust with discerning clients, architects, and designers, with the professionalism and discretion luxury clients expect.
  • Strong command of scheduling, subcontractor management, quality control, and job site safety.
  • Clear, calm communication and a habit of solving problems early.
  • A continuous-learner mindset.
  • A high school diploma or GED; Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Twenty (20) years of experience in construction, with at least fifteen (15) years functioning as a Superintendent or equal at a commercial and/or residential construction company
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to satisfactorily communicate in English with clients, colleagues, and subcontractors to their understanding
  • Able to provide legible communication
  • Able to compute basic mathematical calculations
  • Ability to read and understand architectural plans sets
  • Technical understanding of residential construction, including codes, sequencing, safety, quality control, and best building practices
  • Proven ability to deliver projects on time and on budget
  • Able to gather information, prepare reports, and properly communicate same
  • Able to read, understand, and interpret construction change orders, contracts, and other job-related documents
  • Experience with complex projects
  • Familiar with building and construction legal terminology
  • Possess a technical understanding of commercial and residential construction codes, sequencing, and best building practices
  • Demonstrate experience and passion for client satisfaction and care to all project stakeholders
  • Must be able to work in outside weather conditions, including rain and extreme heat, and near moving mechanical parts.
  • Includes occasional exposure to wet, humid, and/or cold conditions and to vibration.
  • Must be able to stand, sit, squat, turn, bend, walk, operate telephone and computer, see, speak, hear, write, and lift up to 50 pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with green building or high-performance homes is a plus.
  • Experience with Procore is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the project on site.
  • Supervise all construction activities, in-house crews, and subcontractors, and hold every trade to Allen's quality standards.
  • Serve as the client's trusted guide.
  • Build strong, professional relationships with homeowners, architects, interior designers, trades, and our team.
  • Communicate progress clearly, set expectations, and handle sensitive conversations with tact and discretion.
  • Protect the schedule.
  • Maintain the master schedule and three-week look-aheads, spot slippage early, solve problems before they grow, and coach the team on planning and execution.
  • Deliver on detail.
  • Interpret complex drawings and specifications, understand every contract requirement, and make sure the finished work matches the design intent.
  • Partner on cost and scope.
  • Support budgets, costs, and change orders, and work with our pre-construction team on estimates, schedules, and general conditions.
  • Keep sites safe and well run.
  • Maintain safe, clean, well-organized job sites that reflect well on our clients and our company.
  • Finish strong.
  • Manage the punch list and closeout so every client's experience ends as well as it began.
  • Partner with the Project Manager in leading the day-to-day project execution, overseeing skilled in-house crews, carpenters, support staff, and trades.
  • Coordinate subcontractors, manage project schedules, direct in-house crews, and maintain a safe, welcoming, organized, and productive job site.
  • Ensure every project is delivered safely, efficiently, on schedule, within budget, and to the high-quality standards our clients expect.
  • Coordinate the work of our project teams and trade partners while maintaining clear communication and accountability throughout the build.
  • Deliver exceptional homes and create a professional, collaborative experience for our clients and everyone involved in the project.
