About The Position

This is an opportunity to join one of Canada’s leading heavy civil contractors on a major infrastructure project on Vancouver Island. We are seeking an experienced Senior Superintendent with a strong background delivering large-scale heavy civil concrete projects. This role is ideal for a proven field leader with deep expertise in concrete structures, complex form work operations, sequencing, and managing large self-perform construction teams within challenging infrastructure environments. The project involves significant structural concrete scopes and overnight operations, requiring a Superintendent who is highly organized, safety-focused, and experienced managing complex civil construction activities under demanding schedules. The company is recognized for landmark infrastructure and heavy civil projects across Canada, complex bridge, transit, marine, and concrete structure construction, strong self-perform construction capabilities, long-term project backlog and financial stability, and high-performing operational leadership and field teams. Requirements

  • 10+ years of Superintendent experience within heavy civil construction
  • Strong experience delivering large-scale structural concrete projects
  • Strong experience delivering heavy civil infrastructure projects
  • Strong experience delivering complex concrete form work operations
  • Strong experience delivering bridges, marine, transit, or major infrastructure assignments
  • Proven ability to lead large crews and complex field operations
  • Strong understanding of concrete sequencing, structural coordination, and heavy civil construction methodologies
  • Experience working on technically demanding, schedule-driven projects
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities
  • Safety-focused with a strong understanding of BC construction safety standards
  • Comfortable working overnight shifts and demanding project schedules
  • Highly organized, accountable, and solutions-oriented

  • Engineering or technical construction background is considered an asset

Responsibilities

  • Lead all on-site construction activities for major heavy civil concrete scopes
  • Oversee structural concrete, form work, reinforcing steel, placement, and sequencing operations
  • Manage Superintendents, Foremen, subcontractors, and large self-perform field crews
  • Ensure projects are executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with schedule milestones
  • Coordinate construction logistics, crane activities, equipment, manpower, and subcontractor scheduling
  • Drive productivity, quality control, and field execution performance
  • Lead daily planning meetings, safety meetings, and coordination sessions
  • Monitor project progress and proactively resolve construction challenges
  • Collaborate closely with Project Managers, engineers, and operations leadership
  • Ensure compliance with project specifications, drawings, and safety regulations
  • Support schedule planning, look-ahead coordination, and recovery planning when required
  • Maintain strong communication with clients, consultants, and project stakeholders
