About The Position

Mesa seeks a part-time Senior Substation Physical Engineering Specialist who will be responsible for checking and oversite of deliverables associated with substation physical design projects. Assigned tasks will include drawing checking activities for General Arrangements, Elevations and Sections, Control House Layouts, Grounding layouts, Conduit and Cable Schedules, Various Calculations, and Bill of Materials. The ideal candidate will also provide mentorship to other junior engineers and designers.

Requirements

20+ years of experience in substation design and engineering
A Bachelor’s degree in engineering from and ABET accredited university is preferred

Nice To Haves

Willingness to travel is a plus but not required
Professional Engineer license is a plus but not required
Experience working directly for a utility is a plus but not required
Reporting to the Knoxville office in a Hybrid schedule is preferred but not required
Highly qualified candidates will be considered for fully remote work, but in the Southeast Region due to customer locality.
For fully remote workers, quarterly visits to the Knoxville office may be required depending on experience and performance.

Responsibilities

Check/review junior personnel's work for accuracy/adherence to client and national standards
Perform/review project scoping activities
Prepare engineering labor cost estimates
Mentor junior engineers and designers
Interface with client engineers to provide satisfactory design products
