About The Position

Mesa seeks a Senior Substation P&C Engineer to perform upper-tier design and/or checking of deliverables for high-voltage substations. Deliverables typically include single-line diagrams, control-house layouts, panel front views, elementary and/or schematic diagrams, wiring diagrams, nameplate drawings, bills of materials, cable schedules, and construction turnover documentation.

The engineer works under the direction of Project Engineers and independently evaluates, selects, and applies engineering principles and practices relevant to project requirements. The role may involve defining project objectives, preparing design estimates, establishing project requirements and design approaches for large or complex projects, and determining design approaches with the design team. The engineer may conceptualize the initial design approach for a major phase of a large project or hold overall responsibility for engineering work on a routine project. The role also includes technical and coordination checking to ensure deliverables comply with IEEE and/or client standards and applicable design requirements.

Requirements

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to convey technical knowledge in simple and practical language.

Nice To Haves

• Professional Engineer (PE) license.

Responsibilities

• Design and/or check upper-tier deliverables associated with high-voltage substations.
• Complete assignments within budget and schedule with a high degree of accuracy.
• Work under the direction of Project Engineers.
• Independently evaluate, select, and apply engineering principles and practices relevant to project requirements.
• Work with the Engineering Supervisor and Program Manager to define project objectives, prepare design estimates, and establish project requirements and design approaches for large or complex projects.
• Determine the design approach and work with the design team to prepare required design documents, including drawings, specifications, and calculations.
• Conceptualize the initial design approach for a major phase of a large project, or take overall responsibility for engineering work on a routine project.
• Perform technical and coordination checking of deliverables and other project documents.
• Ensure deliverables comply with IEEE and/or client standards and meet applicable design requirements.
