HII Platform Modernization (PM) trades teams provide expert solutions on shipboard alterations and installations for fleet modernization. The selected Senior Marine Electronics Technician (Master Tradesperson 4) candidate will support PM, working closely with our skilled trades teams, on Naval Vessels, utilizing various tools of the trades, removing, installing and upgrading industrial systems and equipment, assisting with alterations and installations for ﬂeet modernization on various contracts. Selected candidate will be required to travel to shipyards and military bases located around the country and abroad, for durations up to 100% of the time when not assigned to a local task. Per Diem provided, based on location, when on travel. Travel and lodging expenses are covered by the company. This is a full-time, hourly position located in Pearl Harbor, HI. Weekend and/or overtime hours required depending on contract awards and support required as per trade/skill set. This role is contingent upon being awarded the contract.

Requirements

Must be a U.S. citizen.
Must have a High School diploma, or Trade School or equivalent, and a minimum of 6 years of related shipboard electrical and electronics experience.
Must possess a DoD Secret security clearance, at minimum, and maintain clearance level throughout employment.
Must be able to obtain various shipyard and base access credentials within 30 days of start date and maintain them throughout employment.
Must adhere to safety and quality procedures set forth by HII and local shipyards.
Must be able to travel up to 100% of the time when not assigned to local tasking.
Must provide hand tools and trade specific PPE per trades designation.
Must have experience installing, troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing electrical distribution systems and its associated equipment and cabling aboard submarines.
Must have strong knowledge of reading and interpreting drawings, blueprints, technical manuals, engineering sketches, charts and/or work orders as well as written and verbal instruction for cables and equipment to be installed and connected.
Must have experience planning and laying out cable runs according to specs, drawings, and proper installation practices, preparing the areas for welding and assisting in the attachment process.
Must have experience installing, opening, modifying, and logging MCTs, MCPs and stuffing tubes and completing tests for final inspections.
Must be proficient in proper methods of disconnecting and reconnecting new and existing equipment and completing supporting OQE.
Must be experienced with the proper, safe usage of multimeters, meggers, and testing procedures.
Must have multipin connector fabrication experience and certification in accordance with NSI 009-73.
Must be able to accurately communicate with Team Leads and co-workers regarding the technical aspects of the work being performed.

Nice To Haves

Candidates with current Fiber Optic certification and installation experience are highly preferred.
Candidates with NAVSEA Cableway Improvement Program certifications are highly preferred.
Candidates experienced with Radio Room and/or CANES equipment installation and troubleshooting are preferred.
Candidates who have graduated from and/or completed a vocational school or a skilled trades certificate program are preferred.
OSHA 10 Maritime Certification is a plus.
Prefer technical/professional certifications.

Responsibilities

Install, operate, maintain, repair, and modify equipment and structures by performing alterations and installations for fleet modernization on US Navy submarines.
Apply knowledge of production processes towards completion of complicated and non-routine tasks related to installations on shipboard systems and related equipment at company, and/or field locations in accordance with established quality and safety procedures.
Work from blueprints, engineering sketches, charts, work orders, technical documents including controlled work packages, formal work processes and procedures, test documents, reports and task or trip reports.
Troubleshoot and diagnose systems and equipment to efficiently eliminate problems.
Perform quality inspections on finished products and provide onsite training of employees and customer support personnel when required.
Perform a variety of complicated and non-routine tasks including duties outside of specialty to complete installation or work assignment.
Develop and use technical documents including controlled work packages, formal work processes and procedures, test documents, reports and task or trip reports.
Schedule, report and brief customers and senior management.
