About The Position

AECOM is actively seeking a Senior Structural Project Inspector based in the Culpeper, VA area. The qualified Structural Project Inspector applicant will provide inspection support services on various types of structures including bridges, soundwalls, retaining walls and other structures. This position will require working at heights.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED plus 4 years of experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and or education
  • U.S. Citizenship is required, due to the nature of the work
  • Valid US Driver’s License required to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices. As a condition of employment, selected candidate must pass AECOM's Motor Vehicle Records review
  • This position may occasionally require working at heights.
  • This position will require carrying, lifting, loading & unloading testing equipment that may weigh up to 50 pounds, with or without assistance.
  • This position requires working outdoors on uneven terrain and in variable climate conditions including heat, snow, cold, wind, etc.

Nice To Haves

  • 4 plus years of experience with State DOT Transportation Projects focusing on the supervisory of construction inspection and contract compliance
  • Basic computer skills; MS Office
  • Excellent time management skills; self-motivator, team oriented

Responsibilities

  • Oversees and perform field inspections to monitor road conditions, bridges, road construction, and traffic, and material using in road construction and repair
  • Reviews construction, maintenance or traffic projects for compliance with project specifications and plans
  • Compile quantities, reviews construction reports, generate daily inspection reports and a daily diary of work completed by contractors each day
  • Coach, mentor, and recommend training for staff
  • Participate in various contractual meetings
  • Identify and document deficiencies, non-conformances, and safety hazards observed during inspections and communicate findings to project management and contractors
  • Verify material quality, testing results, and certifications to ensure compliance with project specifications and industry standards
  • Maintain detailed inspection records, photographs, and documentation in accordance with project requirements and regulatory guidelines
  • Conduct quality assurance reviews and perform follow-up inspections to verify corrective actions have been completed satisfactorily
  • Communicate effectively with project stakeholders, including contractors, engineers, and clients, regarding inspection findings and project progress
