About The Position

Bennett & Pless is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer for their Nashville, TN office. This role involves leading a team in the design and analysis of structural elements and systems for various project types across industries like manufacturing, distribution, data centers, commercial, historical, adaptive reuse, and renovations. The Senior Engineer will act as a technical specialist, mentor junior and mid-level staff, and has growth potential in either a Specialist or Leadership track.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required, Master’s degree preferred.
Active Professional Engineer license.
10+ years’ experience required in structural engineering.
People management experience
Experience with industry standard software, including but not limited to Tekla Structural Designer (TSD), ETABS, SAFE, SAP, Microsoft products, Bentley (RAM) products, RISA, EnerCalc, Adapt, etc.
Project management experience/ability is required.
Structural design experience utilizing different construction materials and structural systems; including but not limited to steel, concrete, and masonry design in low to mid-rise structures.
Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment, manage multiple projects, tasks, and deadlines, and bring each to completion.
Must be a self-starter and always willing to listen, learn, and improve.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written are required.
Must demonstrate team leadership ability, and ability to train and mentor younger engineers.

Nice To Haves

Working knowledge of Revit is preferred.
Client management experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

Interacts with clients attending client, architect, and contractor meetings, reviewing structural documentation, and supervising/mentoring junior staff.
Oversight of design calculations, preparation of the construction documents, reviewing shop drawings and submittals, site reviews, and RFI responses.
Coordinates information across all disciplines to ensure deliverables are compliant with client expectations and Bennett & Pless quality levels.
Performs QA/QC of work performed by others.
Mentors and provides oversight to engineering team.
Responsible for the learning, professional development, and growth of the assigned team, as well as training and career development.
