About The Position

LaBella is currently hiring for a Senior Structural Engineer in our Charlotte, NC office. This role involves working independently or leading a team in producing structural construction documents for a variety of projects. Responsibilities include providing construction phase services, conducting assessments and feasibility studies for existing structures, and collaborating with clients and other disciplines to develop cost-effective structural systems. The position also requires managing project budgets, mentoring junior staff, and developing client relationships.

Requirements

  • 8 to 15 years of experience working at a consulting engineering firm.
  • Strong writing and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines.
  • BS in Civil Engineering is required.
  • PE license is required.
  • Project history using computer analysis software experience is essential.

Nice To Haves

  • Revit experience is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of structural engineers, designers, and/or draftspersons in the production of structural construction documents, including drawings and specifications for projects ranging from small renovations to large and complex new construction.
  • Provide construction phase services, such as reviewing shop drawings and submittals, responding to RFIs, and conducting site visits to observe completed work for general conformance with project requirements.
  • Perform assessments and forensic or feasibility studies for existing structures that are to be improved, purchased, or have been damaged.
  • Collaborate closely with clients to develop cost-effective structural systems design, including providing concept options and system pros and cons for informed decision-making.
  • Work closely with other engineering and architectural disciplines.
  • Develop efficient structural system designs, perform calculations, and coordinate with other disciplines.
  • Maintain and manage project budgets, including hours and resources.
  • Mentor Structural Designers and Junior Engineers, including reviewing calculations and documents.
  • Develop and maintain client relationships.
