About The Position

This is a senior engineering position in Sargent & Lundy’s Nuclear Power Group, supporting engineering projects for new nuclear facilities and upgrades and modifications to nuclear power plants. The role involves collaborating with structural engineers, coordinating with other disciplines, and guiding less experienced project team members. The engineer will apply knowledge of materials, structural analysis, structural steel design, and reinforced concrete design across a variety of client projects. The position includes preparing and reviewing design calculations, developing specifications, and supporting designers with drawing development. Using structural analysis software, the engineer will analyze and design steel frames, connections, concrete members, equipment and piping supports, and foundations, including analyses for wind and seismic loading. Travel to client and vendor offices, plant sites, and construction locations may be required for design reviews, construction coordination, and field verification. The work schedule is hybrid, with time in the Hamilton, New Jersey office and working remotely from home. Sargent & Lundy’s Nuclear Power Group works on nuclear engineering, design, and licensing, including small modular reactors, advanced reactor technology, reactor restart projects, existing plant life extensions and digital modernization, coal-to-nuclear conversion initiatives, and international nuclear new-build projects.
