About The Position

Sedgman Canada Ltd is looking for a Senior Structural Engineer to join their team in Vancouver, B.C. This role involves leading and providing technical support on structural engineering projects, including conducting structural design, investigation, managing project budgets and schedules, and preparing technical reports. The ideal incumbent will also mentor and coach junior engineers. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering.
  • P.Eng. registration with EGBC or eligible to obtain.
  • 15+ years of structural engineering experience, with at least 5 years in a project lead or senior role.
  • Strong understanding of steel and concrete design for heavy industrial structures.
  • Demonstrated sound knowledge and experience in design/consultancy/operational environments.
  • Ability to safely and effectively self-manage time, priorities and activities.
  • Well-developed communication and negotiation skills.
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada without sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous mining or metals industry experience is highly desired.
  • Experience with Canadian building code across the provinces is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Lead project development of structural and concrete designs ensuring compliance with relevant codes, industry standards.
  • Lead concept studies, including estimating quantities and preliminary designs.
  • Perform detailed concrete and steel design, including interaction with Drafters to produce models and documentation in line with QA Compliance.
  • Assist with construction enquiries, including safe lifting and erection.
  • Interface with other Engineering disciplines, including Electrical, Process and Mechanical.
  • Focus on technical innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
