About The Position

We are seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to perform structural analysis, design, and detailing on a variety of commercial & industrial projects. This role involves the design of steel, concrete, and masonry commercial/institutional, federal, and industrial buildings, encompassing both new and existing construction. The ideal candidate will lead design team efforts, manage project teams for budget and schedule control, develop proposals, and collaborate with architects, owners, and contractors to deliver high-quality structural drawings. The position requires the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, strong critical thinking, organizational, and analytical skills, and the maintenance of positive working relationships. Marketing and business development activities are also part of the role, as is contributing positively to the overall office culture. The role may involve travel and close collaboration with other offices.

Requirements

  • B.S. degree in civil engineering from an ABET accredited program required.
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) or Structural Engineer (SE).
  • 10 to 15 years of structural engineering experience.
  • Experience with computer software programs and analysis systems (such as RISA, AutoCAD, Revit, RamSS, Etabs, Enercalc, etc.).
  • Excellent verbal, written, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Project Management experience and/or certifications
  • Desire to lead inter-disciplinary projects and project teams
  • Strong ability to interpret technical drawings
  • Able to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
  • Possess strong critical thinking, organizational, and analytical abilities.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint software preferred. Must understand database concepts. Working knowledge of marketing databases and proposal resources files.
  • Ability to travel

Nice To Haves

  • Design experience with light gage steel and timber is a plus
  • Local AHJ experience and relationships is a plus
  • Active local industry involvement is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Perform structural analysis, design, and detailing on a variety of commercial & industrial projects
  • Design of steel, concrete, and masonry commercial/institutional, federal and Industrial buildings, both in new and existing construction.
  • Lead design team efforts
  • Manage project team for budget and schedule control
  • Develop fee and qualification-based proposals
  • Collaborate with the architect, owner, and contractor to provide a well-coordinated and high-quality set of structural drawings.
  • Conduct marketing/business development activities
  • Work closely with other offices, such as Raleigh, Atlanta structural groups to complete projects and tasks.
