About The Position

Ware Malcomb is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to lead the structural design and delivery of projects from concept through construction. This role involves ensuring technical excellence and code compliance, providing hands-on technical leadership, and acting as a key resource for project teams. The Senior Structural Engineer will collaborate closely with clients, consultants, and internal stakeholders, contribute to project planning, mentor engineering staff, and uphold Ware Malcomb's quality standards and design culture. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in structural engineering
  • Strong proficiency in Revit and structural analysis/design software
  • Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and provide technical guidance to team members
  • Deliver timely, reliable, and courteous service

  • Professional Structural Engineer (SE) license preferred

Responsibilities

  • Lead and perform advanced computer-aided and manual structural design calculations in accordance with applicable building and material codes, ensuring accuracy and constructability across all project phases.
  • Oversee the development and review of structural models, calculation packages, construction documents, and technical specifications.
  • Serve as Engineer of Record (EOR) for assigned projects, taking responsibility for overall structural design integrity and code compliance.
  • Plan project layouts, establish structural design strategies, and integrate structural systems into cohesive, multidisciplinary designs.
  • Project management for the execution of structural building projects.
  • Supervise engineers and designers performing calculations and drawing preparation.
  • Lead internal and external project meetings, coordinating with architects, consultants, contractors, and clients.
  • Conduct and oversee field work, including site verifications, existing condition assessments, and issue resolution.
  • Provide construction administration services, including periodic site visits, shop drawing and submittal reviews, and responses to RFIs.
  • Support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of engineering standards, tools, and best practices.
  • Lead quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) efforts, including peer reviews and technical audits.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to project engineers and designers, including training in structural analysis and calculation software.
  • Prepare technical reports, peer review documentation, and recommendations for design improvements.
